Shalom Kita Gimmel families!
As we get closer to the summer, we have one more important holiday: Shavuot. This holiday marks the receiving of the ten commandments, Z’man mattan torateinu, and has a few other different names. We will be learning about these names and their corresponding themes starting next week and leading up to our school-wide Shavuot assembly on Friday, May 30th. I’d like to highlight one name: Chag Ha’Bikkurim – the holiday of the first fruits, which were brought to the holy temple in Jerusalem by the farmers. This was a happy time, full of gratitude and sharing, and we are embodying those values here at OJCS.
Beginning next week, we will be collecting donations of items for the Ottawa Kosher Food Bank to be presented in honour of Shavuot. Please see the poster below for what items are the most needed, and most appreciated. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
