An interview with James – our Founder and CEO

In case you missed it, Larry Ferlazzo published an interview with Edublogs’ founder and CEO, James Farmer, today.

larry It’s an interesting read – especially with the discussion about how Edublogs was started more than 6 years ago and includes a link to the very first home page of our site.

Man have we come a long way!

You’ll also find a sneak peek at some of the new and exciting features coming soon to a blog near you.

So be sure to checkout the entire interview found here!

Edublogs featured in new book on web business models

If you are looking for something to add to your Kindle queue, or a new good-ol-fashioned book to read, we want to suggest Nicolas Pujol’s The Mind Share Market: The Power of Alternative Currency.

book

Ok, so it may only really appeal to you if you are like us and love learning more about online business models and strategies for building services on the web. But we had to share because Edublogs is featured as a case study in the book – which we think is pretty cool!

Through Pujol’s book, those looking to start new ventures online can learn how services like Edublogs use the ‘freemium’ model to build communities that include (as in our case) millions of users.

Looking for student blogging ideas?

studentchallengeThe first Student Blogging Challenge of the year is under way, and even if you or your students aren’t participating, the challenge blog is an excellent resource for blogging ideas.

So far this challenge, students and teachers have created about pages, avatars, and slideshows, written in a foreign language, edited images, and much more!

As you can see here, this is ‘take a break’ week in the challenge – and it is never too late to start!

Also, the fearless challenge leader, Sue Wyatt, is always looking for volunteers to visit student blogs and leave comments. You can learn more about that here.

Be sure to check out the great student work and consider helping out in the global challenge!

Edublogs Weekly: Tips for editing blogs and King’s Speech for educators

It is almost too embarrassing to write about – but during a recent Edublogs Campus training session, a user asked for an explanation for what all of those icons do in the visual post editor.

I admit, I hadn’t actually played with them all before, and had to do some quick learning for a couple on the fly. Who knew the custom characters tool was there all this time!?

Thanks to my new found custom character button, I can say happy π day everyone! :)

So, here is a quick and complete list of all of the different tools available to you when editing a post:
