Announcing Loads Of New Themes!

Personalizing your blog is, for most of us, a fun and rewarding endeavor.

And we just made that experience even better by adding dozens of new themes to Edublogs and CampusPress.

That brings the total number of new themes so far this year to nearly 100!

You can see the most recently added themes by visiting the Appearance > Themes menu item in your dashboard. There’s a filter there to sort by just the newest themes.

Mobile Friendly Theme Info

All of our themes are now mobile friendly and responsive, meaning they will look great no matter the size of the device visitors are using.

This does take a bit of getting used to, as menus and sidebars might get hidden or moved around on smaller screen sizes. This is by design and worth it, for sure!

If you’d like to learn more about using mobile friendly themes, check out our post on TheEdublogger here.

Two New Plugins! Easily Add Fonts and Tables to Your Blog

We’ve just released two new plugins for all Pro and Edublogs Campus blogs!

1. MCE Table Buttons – Activate this plugin and several new table management buttons will appear when you are working on a page or post.

Similar to the table tools in Microsoft Word or Google Docs, this new plugin makes it easy to create and edit large tables.

2. Supreme Google Webfonts – Adds two new often requested visual editor items!

One that lets you choose from dozens of fun and nice looking fonts and a second that lets you easily choose the font size.

And alongside that, we’ve added new features to almost every single theme – including threaded comments, extra custom headers and plenty more besides.,

We’ll be featuring various themes over the next few weeks, and talking about how you can utilize the new features, but for the moment you might particularly like:

Edublogs gets a makeover

It’s not quite a brow-lift, nose-job, full set of Da Vinci crowns and a tummy-tuck… but we’re pretty happy with our new look nonetheless :)

And what’s more, your blog backend is going to get a makeover really really soon too (more details at the end of this post).

So here’s how we used to look:

Old Look Edublogs

And here’s how we look now:

New look Edublogs

We’re hoping that the new look demonstrates how far we’ve come as a company in the last year and also improves on your Edublogs experience. It’s a lot lighter on the load, contains some nice new useful links for logged in users, describes what we do much better, profiles The Edublogger better than before and shows off more Edublogs Supporters rather nicely too.

And of course, hopefully it also helps build awareness of Edublogs Campus too :)

As for your blogs, well we can’t confirm the date yet but most likely in the next few weeks we’ll be upgrading the site to the latest version of WordPress which means that your admin area is going to start looking a lot like the below:

New WordPress admin area

And it also means that you’re going to get a heap more of most excellent features, some of which are so cool it’s exciting just anticipating them :)

So we’ll let you know when that happens, and also (in case you’re worried) have a whole new set of video tutorials and other materials to help acquaint you and your students with the new admin layout.
