Bulk Add Users

I have a list of 250 users who have accounts with our edublogs site, but need to be added to a specific blog to post items, not just comments. IS there a way I can avoid manually adding all 250 users as contributors?

Sorry to take a bit to get back to you. Had a bit of an emergency on my end.

If you;re a Subscriber, there's a page on the end to add in users upwards of 50 at a time. You're still going to have to copy and paste in their email addresses though. There's no automated method of doing so I:m afraid. The forms are at Dashboard -> Users -> Add Users.

Hope this helps,

No worries. I have until Monday to get this working.

Let me clarify; these 250 faculty are already added to our edublogs site, but they need to be added to a specific blog as contributors. So they already have edublogs accounts. I'm wondering if I can just upload their user names as contributors somewhere.

I'm not sure where "there's a page on the end" means? Is there a link or directions to that page?

No there is not.

Sorry, meant backend or what the software calls the Dashboard, not end. I gave the directions shortly there after. If you're a Supporter, you can find that page at Dashboard -> Users -> Add Users. That will allow you to add in up to 50 users at a time I believe. If you're not, the only other option is at Dashboard -> Users -> Add New but that's only a single person a a time. And I believe they'll have to confirm that addition as well via an email that they'll receive.

@Jason I see that you are from Packer Collegiate Institute. Can you confirm if you are referring to an Edublogs.org blog or a weblog.packer.edu blog?

Since they all have usernames you will need to add via Users > Add Users which allows you to add 15 users at a time and you will need to add them using the email address attached to their username.

Refer to the section at the bottom of this page on using Users > Add Users - http://help.edublogs.org/2009/08/24/adding-users-to-a-blog/

The only other way you could avoiding adding all of them would be to share a username between groups of individuals and then get them to add at the top of the post - this post was written by ..... This would be less than ideal.

I'm referring to weblog.packer.edu.

I did know where the 15 users at a time page is. I was hoping there was a way to add them without cut-and-paste one-at-a-time to this blog.

Oh well; guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend :-)

Thanks for your help.

@Jason Thanks for confirming and sorry but unfortunately Users > Add Users is the only option other than people sharing usernames to reduce the number you have to add.
