Dixie Belle Calendar widget not showing properly.

Hi!

We are setting up a new blog and adding widgets. We noticed however, that when we added a calendar widget, it broke the CSS and caused the sidebar to move down below the post area. We erased all the widgets and added them one at a time and the sidebard moved back properly. However, when we added the calendar on its own, it did not show properly. There were huge spaces between dates.

The blog is at http://armclachlan.edublogs.org/

We are using Internet Explorer 6 SP1 but it also did not view properly in Firefox the latest version.

Just to follow up and add to the post above, we were using the Dixie Belle theme. Today we switched to the Daisy Rae Gemini theme and experienced the same thing. The calendar is off the blog now and everything works. Its just that we would like to put the calendar on the blog.

Thanks
Ian

Ian, we had a similar issue with Clustrmaps on Vistered Little theme - for a while we decided that the kids could have the theme or the map, not both. Then we found that the map worked well in a post; it does mean it moves down the page, but you can add a link to it to your blogroll to make it easy to find. That might work for you.

Another follow-up to the problem. We have now switched to the Greenery theme but are still having the same issues with the calendar. Though it displays as having the widget displaying, it does not show up on the actual blog but instead displays a dash where the calendar should be displaying. We have taken the widget on and off to see if it just needed to be reset. As well, when we added a title to it, it displayed the code for the title above the calendar widget on the Widgets page.

We are running windows XP and internet explorer 6. I have also checked it on another computer running the latest version of firefox. The blog itself is at http://armclachlan.edublogs.org/.

Thanks
Ian

I think we need to clean up the calendar code at the same time as Mandigo, sorry for the inconvenience :(

Thanks James,

That would be great. I know all of you are very busy and I appreciate all the hard work everybody does here including Drmike, luke and all the others.

Thanks

Ian

Hi James,

I had an email from Sue that the calendar widget on the Dixie Belle theme was fixed but we are still having problems with it. The widget was on this blog:

http://bstark.edublogs.org/

but we have taken it off for now. Was it looked at and determined as unfixable or . . .

Also, I was on one of the blogs from our school and it had ads on it with the keyword thing. I don't mind the ads, I understand that it is necessary to monetize and I support that. However, the one ad I saw was about Breast Cancer? It had the word breast in the ad anyway. I didn't get a great look at it as I tried to get it off before the rest of the admin saw it so unfortunately I didn't get a chance to get the specifics. But, needless to say, that might be a bit of a issue particularly on a Grade K-6 blog. Would you be able to look into that? I know I am a little vague on details but I didn't want to derail our conversation onto what that ad was doing on there so I tried to get it off as quickly as I could.

Thanks
Ian Hancock

James has said a number of times that he's willing to block inappropriate adverts but without the url of the site in question, there's little he can do.
