What happens when you try it?
Ya know, I didn't think to do that, right back, lol. I can't believe I was afraid I would "break" it?
Nada, tried putting it in in WYSIWYG and HTML/text editor:

This is NOT a fix, because the old manual method works, I guess it's an upgrade request?
Coming soon... promise...
And who says Edublogs doesn't deliver :)
This code (in your html field) will do the job for you: [slideshare 4991 ajaxworld-15351]
So this embed: [slideshare id=41488&doc=social-media-the-importance-of-communities-and-how-to-get-one-6395&w=425]
becomes: [slideshare 41488 social-media-the-importance-of-communities-and-how-to-get-one-6395]
A little annoying (I'll have it working exactly the same as wp.com soon) but better than nothing huh :)
I can deal with it, I just brought it up because I just think the word press way will have more people using the embed more easily. Since slideshare seems to be pretty popular these days, it couldn't hurt. Once again, thank you. And congrats for the mention on weblogg-ed
You can now just copy and paste the wordpress.com embed code, enjoy :)
Okay, you are too good. Thank you, just in time as I try to bring in 9 newbies to the fold
And I've used this faithfully up to this day, unfortunately, I think your recent upgrade to allow javascript has messed this system up. Now all my slideshares have disappeared, the embed code is all that shows. I have to copy the whole code from slideshare and put it in on the code page. Sorry!

Sorry about this - the slideshare code had just become redundant :(
Which means???
You need to copy all the code from now on into your code page.
The advantage of tis is that you can also do that with all the other slideshow applications now too - so it's not all bad!
The copying code going forward is not a big deal. The big pain is finding all the old posts.
Actually if you go Dashboard -> Manage -> Posts, you can search for [slideshare (note the bracket) to get a list of the posts that need to change over.
Well, that's some help. I just shudder thinking of how often I have embeded slideshows in my posts. I've gotten the critical ones done.
You must log in to post.
Slideshare has a new embed code for wordpress.com, will this have any implications here? I have figured out how to do slideshare embeds by sussing out the filename from a long string of code using your swf interface. This would make it much easier for those not as technically inclined.
Here is what the code looks like:
