I had no problem viewing your url in Firefox. You have the default post. The image in the header is a bit slow to load right now.

I would try emptying your cache then reload the site in the browser or using a different browser.

I have the same "invalid syntax" error when I try to visit one of my edublogs in IE 6.0. I'm a Firefox user myself, but my students use IE a lot. Now I understand why several of my students say they cannot get the blog to show up. The blog that gives me the problem is the one [jgarrigus.edublogs.org] on which I set up a wikispace, which I hope to use on both of my class blogs, eventually. My other blog [garrigus.edublogs.org] works well with IE 6.0

I have found the invalid syntax error on two different computers when I visit the site with IE6.0. Clearing the cache and erasing the cookies does not help. The browser tries to find the site and gets bounced instead to this URL: http://history%20of%20cuba:%20From%20Columbus%20to%20Castro.wikispaces.com/space/badge/html?v=1&bg=EEEEEE&text=333333&url=008800&fontsize=83%25
I believe this is the name of a course wiki I trired to set up on wikispaces.
Then IE6 gives me the message: "The page cannot be displayed. The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed." "Invalid syntax error" seems to be the name of this error message page.

Can you help? Thanks!

Try this for now http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q834489

It is an MSIE problem and I recently read a fix, having to do with the privacy or the autofillin on MSIE. But, can't find that at the moment.

Good ol' Fred. I think this is an answer (there's also a pre-fetch option that probably should be nixed.) Should also have solved the earlier problem someone had with MSIE trying to load his blog from his personal website.

An explosion of info on passwords

By Fred Langa

Wow! What a hot button! My Jan. 4 article on "Easier but safer passwords" generated a veritable flood of reader mail.

Here's a sampling of a few of the best comments. Also, I have some info you need to know about "Windows Live Toolbar" and installing the new Windows Vista.

Force IE to forget old passwords

Ever have Internet Explorer repeatedly try to fill in the wrong information in a password form? Reader Joe Preston encountered that as he tried to recover from some truly awful bad luck:
"Recently my laptop was stolen. I found myself having to go to a number of Web sites that had my passwords memorized and change them. Now I find when I try to access these same Web sites from my desktop, Windows automatically puts in the old password. How can I edit the list of memorized passwords in Windows XP?"
Losing a laptop? Ouch! My sympathies, Joe. But there's a small silver lining for you: It's easy to tell Internet Explorer 5, 6, and 7 to forget and delete all your old, stored passwords.

Figure 1. Although it's somewhat buried in the "Tools" menu, Internet Explorer offers an easy way to delete or manage stored Web addresses, personal information entered into Web forms, and passwords. IE 7 is shown here, but IE 5 and 6 have very similar functions.

In Internet Explorer, open the Tools menu, select Internet Options, and click the Content tab. Next, click the AutoComplete Settings button. (IE 5 and 6 simply call it AutoComplete.) You can then use the check boxes and buttons to tell Internet Explorer what you want it to delete or save.

Microsoft offers a reasonably complete how-to article called Save Time with AutoComplete with more details.

Nothing can go wrong, go wrong, go wrong...

Thanks for the prompt response. It seems logical. But it isn't the problem. My students have this very same error on their machines when they use IE6.
But I found the problem just now. It was being caused by the Wikispace badge that I had enabled on that site. I had Wikispaces remove the badge and the problem is gone. Don't know what I'll do when I want to have the students use Wikispace later in the semester. But at least they can get to my blog without switching to Firefox.

When you need to access wikispaces, just put a link in your sidebar.

Garrigus:

You can re-enable the wikispaces badge if you point it to a valid wikispaces space. Above the checkbox in the Wikispaces settings page, you can enter a valid space name. Currently, yours is set to "history of cuba", which contains spaces, and can't be used. You could register "historyofcuba", put that as your space name on the settings page, and then re-enable the wikispaces badge.
