So this week I’d like to introduce you to an old favourite of the plugin world and two new bunnies, the new ‘uns first:

Edublogs Only – This is a neat plugin that will immediately make your blog private to all but registered and logged in Edublogs users. That way you’re protected from pretty much any nasty outsiders and don’t have to stress about adding your colleagues as users of your blog – all they need is an Edublogs account!

DivShare Uploader -Fancy unlimited uploads, up to 200MB at a time, straight from your ‘Write’ screen… then turn this on and register with DivShare and you’ll be laughing. We provide 100MB of upload space for you free of charge already… but every little helps huh!

And we’d also like to welcome back Subscribe to Comments, an old favourite that was built in but will work better as an optional plugin. Basically it allows commentators on your site to tick a box and get updated of responses to their comments / other comments… amazingly useful!

If you’ve been snouting around the ‘Presentations’ tab in the last few days you might have noticed that there are a whole heap of new themes there, and that every Edublog theme now has fully customisable sidebars – just click on ‘Sidebar Widgets’.

 

 

So, try out some new ones, let us know if there are any that have gone that you can’t live without – a few of them *really* had to go – and fill us in on any bugs.

And go customise those sidebars (and in quite a few cases, headers too!).

We’re delighted to announce the introduction of LaTeX to Edublogs.

The plugin, released by Patrick Chia, allows you to simply post really really complex equations, like this one:

$latex i\hbar\frac{\partial}{\partial t}\left|\Psi(t)\right>=H\left|\Psi(t)\right>$

Just turn it on in your ‘Plugins’ area and enjoy.

I’ve upgraded the Edublogs Forums to the latest version of the very wonderful bbPress.

This is good because it allows users who don’t have an Edublogs username to participate (i.e. plugin authours, prospective Edublogs users, people asking broader questions) and brings fun things like tags, spam blocking, plugins and more into play.

It’s a bit annoying as while it has retained all the previous posts – it’s wiped the usernames – so you’ll have to create another account… sorry!
