While we have more than 5,000 followers on Twitter, we really haven’t wandered into the pages of Facebook before – that is until now!
Our new Facebook page is an excellent way to keep up with the latest news and educational uses of Edublogs.
We are keeping track of all new “likes” between now and Tuesday the 1st of June, and will be giving away fivefree Pro accounts to five of our new fans! You can extend an existing Pro account for an additional 12 months or get a brand new one.
Here is an example of what threaded comments are and what you can do with them:
Complete the following steps to activate threaded comments on your blog:
1. Disable the threaded comments plugin if you currently have it activated.
2. Go to Settings > Discussion.
3. Select Enable threaded (nested) comments.
4. Scroll to bottom of page and click Save Changes.
To see an excellent example of using threaded comments in a class setting, check out this post on a seventh grade English class blog. There is some exciting learning going on there!
As of today, we have over a dozen excellent and popular plugins available to Pro and Campus blogs!
After listening to feedback from recent user surveys, and in line with our commitment to providing the most useful and powerful educational blogging experience in the world, we are working on adding even more plugins in the near future.
A few possibilities on the horizon include improved podcasting, the ability to accept PayPal payments and donations, Facebook integration, and calendar management.
We would love to hear what you have to say about all of this! Do you think you would use any of these plugins?
More importantly, do you have any specific requests for us to look into?
With the recent addition of 33 new themes available for your blog, you might be interested in our latest help video, “Changing Your Blog Theme”. This video is also great to show to students or teachers just starting out with Edublogs. Enjoy!
P.S. In case you are curious about how I embedded this video right inside of this post (which you can do as well), check out this video here!
Have you been looking for a way to manage and update your blog when you are away from your computer?
We’ve compiled this list of FREE mobile apps that are compatible with all Edublogs Pro and Campus accounts.
In addition, any Pro user can add mobile blogging capabilities on up to 50 student blogs by following these directions. Don’t forget that this also removes ads and provides access to all premium themes for these blogs too!
These apps allow you to create posts, read and approve comments, and upload photos right from your phone. Imagine being able to take a picture with your phone of students’ work and immediately being able to upload it to your blog to share or facilitate class discussion. How cool is that!?
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or nifty ideas to share on how mobile edublogging can be used!
You may have noticed recently that there are a lot more options when it comes to themes to use on Edublogs.
We now have a whopping 137 themes to choose from, including 33 new snazzy themes available to Pro users.
And alongside that, we’ve added new features to almost every single theme – including threaded comments, extra custom headers and plenty more besides.,
To see the new great looking themes, click on the “Premium Themes” link in your Dashboard.
We’ll be featuring various themes over the next few weeks, and talking about how you can utilize the new features, but for the moment you might particularly like:
Autofocus automatically creates a beautiful front page based on photos (or other images you upload) to your posts.
Color paper provides you with a colorful and interesting new interface for your blog.
PrimePress is everything you want well styled, customizable, fresh looking blog.
In addition, more of the themes now include the ability to upload a custom header image and they all now allow comments on pages.
And, of course, one Pro user can turn on all of these themes for up to 50 of their students, just by entering their details on the ‘Disable Ads’ section.
More tips, highlighted themes, and news about feature enhancements on their way soon… stay tuned!
