I'd like to know why one would use this option?
Would it be possible for you, James, to provide an example of an instance when you used this?

illyacae has the same issue I have with the instructions. Is there a difference in how Microsoft's IE browser handles the maps? I am using Firefox on a Mac. For me, the best way to use Google Maps in my blog is to first setup a Google Mail account, then using Google Maps I create my own maps. I use the three easy steps found at http://maps.google.com/help/maps/share/embed.html#utm_source=en-mapshpp-na-us-google-gm
Illyacae- try that and see if you can make the maps work. Check out this blog post: http://blakej.edublogs.org/2007/08/28/map/ I used Google Map to do this and customize it too

I'd really like to use this and I got to step 3 within seconds. But in 4
4. When you’re on a google map, there’s a ‘Link to this page’ option… click on it annd copy the link (I can’t put one in here as an example or it’ll become a map!)

where do I copy it to? Do I copy the link to my page and put it there?

5. Then, simply type something and turn it into a link to that URL

Type something where?

No worries,

1. Go to 'Plugins' and turn on 'Google Maps'
2. Go to 'Options' and click on 'Inline Google Maps 2'
3. Go here, get an API and copy and paste it into teh API area: http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html
4. When you're on a google map, there's a 'Link to this page' option... click on it annd copy the link (I can't put one in here as an example or it'll become a map!)
5. Then, simply type something and turn it into a link to that URL

It's a bit bizarre... but it does work! Let us know how you go.
