The article is pretty informative. I think maintaining a blog consistently is difficult. Wondering if people are reading your website or not, or if it is worth the time to write on a consistent basis makes it hard to create and maintain an effective blog/website.
The first point of not giving up is crucial, but I think nowadays, you definitely need an eye catching, attractive topic or interest. Design is very important, but not so much as the content of the blogs.
