I’ve been thinking how great it is to have over 700 edublogs going and still be into our first month and about how we can get even more up in the next. Basically how can we ‘badge’ an edublog as an edublog and how can we best ’spread the word’?
The way I though would be simplest woudl be to put a small strip at the top of each blog as Weblogs Inc do (check it out). I figured this would also be a great way to promote community stuff, feature blogs etc. (no advertising though as promised!)
Let me know what you think? Would thsi be cool with you or just plain annoying? Can you think of any better approaches (given that the editable themes thing hasn’t quite come along yet?)

No, James, just no.
Really happy (in fact, proud) to have added a link to edublog.org. See: http://marginalia.edublogs.org
Happy to add a little logo-boxy thingy a la feedburner logo on the side of every page when the editable jobbies become available - but it’s taken me all my time to withstand the design of the uneditable templates; pretty please don’t add that visual horror to the top chunk of real estate.
In terms of promotion, suggest every one of the 700+ happy bloggers invite 10 of their educator chums to join in - bring them edublog servers to their knees ;)
Folks, if you have a blog/web page somewhere else, link back to here.
Cheers

NO. It confuses the eye, not to mention the layout.
Much better to have a button (badge?) in the NavBar, along with some of the standard RSS (Bloglines, MyYahoo, etc) buttons.
James, thank you for asking us. No, please no. Right now, I have EduBlogs in my blogroll.
Down the road, it would be really great if we had two things:
1. template editing
2. an edublogs logo
Then we could if we wanted make the cool edublogs logo part of our template. I would do this, and I’m sure many others would too.
Edublogs logo design competition ahoy?
I can understand the reasoning, and if it has to be done, so be it. This a free service after all people - the man has certain rights. That said, I’d be much happier to run a button or even a little blurb about the edublogs project to the navbar.
No, please don’t. Let us advertise edublogs in other ways that aren’t annoying.
And from around the web...
[...] Edublogs provides free weblogs to educators. James, who kindly provides this service, has wondered about promoting edublogs. I suggested that providing a logo would be a good first step. I’m sure I’m not the only one of James’ tenants who has, in addition to an edublog, at least one blog with an editable template. [...]
